About the Kitsune Samurai

The kitsune-no-bushi (狐の武士, fox warrior) is the legendary Inari-shrine guardian made manifest as a samurai — a kitsune who has trained in the bushidō code rather than the trickster's path. The crested helm draws on the kabuto of Sengoku-period generals, who topped their armour with elaborate maedate (前立, frontal crests) shaped like horns, fans, sun discs or — for the fox clans of Inari devotees — kitsune ears and flames. The twin polearms reference the niten ichi-ryū, the “two heavens, one school” tradition of fighting with two blades at once set down by Miyamoto Musashi (1645), here translated into oversized polearms. The kneeling pose is the moment before the warrior rises, when the spirit-fox commits to drawing the blades. A premium sculpt for any kitsune-themed campaign or display shelf.

Material and finish

32 mm heroic base, approx. 40–50 mm tall in the kneeling pose, plus the tall flame-plume crest above. Printed at 0.04 mm layer height in UV-cured photopolymer resin (grey). Unpainted; the crest and the polearms may need light support cleanup.
