Oni Yokai
Oni and yokai — the demons and spirits of Japanese folklore, sculpted for painters who want something other than the usual western infernal. Club-armed brutes, masked spirits and creatures halfway between the two, with the flowing cloth, ropes and snarling faces that make this set such a rewarding painting project: big readable shapes first, fine detail where your brush wants it.
Every model is resin-printed in our Wrocław workshop under Clay Cyanide's merchant licence, cleaned, cured and checked before packing, with supports removed from faces and detail surfaces first — we paint our own copies, so we prepare yours the way we would want them prepared.
Scale options are listed per product: tabletop-sized for a game, larger for a display shelf. Figures arrive unpainted, ready for priming, and are collector's models rather than toys — each listing carries its own safety information.
For the brush, this set is a study in contrast: matte skin against lacquered wood, rope against cloth, teeth against shadow. Oni skin is the classic playground — reds, blues or ghost-pale all read as canon — and a simple zenithal prime under thin glazes will carry the flowing robes further than any amount of careful edge work.

The faction is led by Oni Itsuki, a spectral commander: a hooded demon-priest with a bakeneko ghost-cat in his arms and a trail of soul-smoke where his legs should be. Under him serve eight yokai — Oni Bushi charging in a hannya mask with his kanabō club, the bare-chested sumō brawler Oni Brute, the Mountain Ogre, a nine-tailed kitsune shrine maiden in a fox mask, the many-armed Onmyōji shaman under his ward halo, the triple-masked Hannya Demoness, the Two-Faced Oni with his spear and drum belly, and a kneeling Kitsune Samurai with twin polearms.
The faction bundle gathers Itsuki and all eight; Oni Hitokuchi, the devourer-mouth shrine — a tongue-coiled maw ringed with flame-leaves and crowned with three oni heads — is a 100 mm display piece sold on its own. Several figures, Itsuki among them, are offered at 50 mm as well as 32 mm, and all of them are Clay Cyanide designs that we print under licence.
Game masters field the band as a night-parade encounter or as the retinue of an Eastern-flavoured villain, with Itsuki as the boss and the shrine as the place the party should never have woken. Painters get two very different jobs in one faction: the oni want texture and hard contrast, while the kitsune tails and the Hannya masks reward smooth, pale transitions.
The faction is full of small details that make good focal points. The kitsune shrine maiden has a paper lantern at her feet, the obvious place for a warm glow that lights her silver hair from below, and the Kitsune Samurai wears lacquered armour under an oni-mask helmet, which rewards a gloss varnish on the plates and a matt finish everywhere else. The Onmyōji's chained ward halo and the ofuda charms on Hitokuchi's shrine take a little cream paper and red lettering, and Itsuki's second oni mask, rising out of the soul-smoke, deserves the brightest highlight on the whole model. For display, the shrine can anchor a shallow shadowbox with the night parade around it.
